If one were to make micro or nano ice composites with piezoelectric-PIN junction transistors with band gap outside IR region, internal pressures and heat transfer could be changed from conduction to a form of radiation that would not be reabsorbed by the ice. Also, polymer-ice composits could prevent heat transfer by convection.
